toooo much to explain to you over tumblr :)
A little backstory to this clip before you watch it:
Will Smith’s father abandoned him and his mother when he was a child, and when Will was finally getting into show business and making a name for himself, he tried to sneak his way back into his life like nothing happened. Will co-wrote this episode, and James Avery (Uncle Phil) said “this scene was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to shoot in my life. Every emotion, every word.. that was Will”
Will was actually supposed to play it off and then walk away, and there was originally an alternate scene that was supposed to happen, but he actually completely cut out what was supposed to be said, and did all of his own dialogue. The hug at the end of this scene is completely genuine, and this was a stepping stone in Will’s career where he started to take on the “do what feels, sounds, and looks right” approach to his acting.
This scene alone, means a lot, not only to Will, but to me as well, seeing as I don’t have the best relationship with my father either.
I’m gonna miss ya kiddo ): RIPPLEASE READ.
Do you see this girl? She’s beautiful right? She’s only 14. Well, January 28th at 4:20 am she passed away. She was ejected from a car and died at the scene. Her and her friends thought it was funny to “douche bag car night” which means you get really drunk and speed around the streets late at night. I want everyone to please reblog this so people can realize drunk driving is NOT a joke. My 14 year old friend is now dead because of a stupid decision she made. This shouldn’t never happened she never knew she would die that night… She just posted on my facebook wall the other day so we could hang out and catch up… Now I don’t even have that option. Please appreciate everyone in your life because they can be taken away from you so quickly…
R.I.P Angela you will be forever misssed. Fly high baby girl. <3
This really pissed me off. Angela was my friend. i loved her. i miss her alot. but the information up there is completely wrong. they started calling it “douchebag car night” cause they always end up driving around for hours looking for something to do or a place to stay, meaning they’re usually in the car all night. not because they get drunk and speed around. I do not under any circumstances condone drunk driving, i’m just saying that’s not what they do. it’s really a shame that we had to lose her, but don’t go around claiming you know what happened when you don’t. R.I.P and Fly High Angela <3
thanks <3
